Satsuma Vase with Geisha in Boat and Garden - Shimazu Crest - Meiji Period

A beautifully decorated and striking Satsuma vase painted with scenes of Geisha in a boat and in a garden with wisteria.

The neck is decorated with ginko leaves and the sides with golden hoops.

In wonderful condition free from any chips or cracks, with a small amount of rubbing to gilding along the bottom edge; it measures 16.5cm high x 9cm at widest, with the base being 5.2cm and the neck 4.3cm across.

It is signed to base (have not been able to trace the artist) with Shimazu crest and the quality is excellent. This dates to the Meiji period and is c.1900.

Displays beautifully and looks great as a standalone piece or part of a collection.
